My name is Steve Collins and this season I have the privilege to coach our U11B second entry team!
I’m
looking forward to working with our young athletes this season and
bringing my positive mindset and can do attitude to the bench.
As a former AAA player, and current coach, I know how much hard-work and dedication it takes on and off the ice to build strong players and a strong team.
This season I will be working with each of our athletes to build up their skating edges and puck control abilities, as well as their dry land skills. ie: speed, agility and strength, to improve their overall game.
Through the summer break, while we prepare for tryouts in the fall, I want to encourage our athletes to continue to work hard, practice their shooting and stick handling as much as possible and stay active. Focus on those sprint and plyometric drills and make sure you are prepared to bring 100% effort in September.
My advice to our athletes planning to tryout:
Hard work and effort go a long way and never go unnoticed. Always be the hardest worker on and off the ice.
Show up early.
Bring a positive attitude!
And be a good teammate on the ice and in the dressing room.
Remember the name on the front of the jersey is more important than the name on the back, good teamwork is key to success.
Good luck to everyone trying out and I will see you all on the ice!
