Good evening EMHA families:
There have been a lot of questions and discussions about the “No Borders Policy" as published by the OHF and how that will look for our association next season.
We are working closely with the OMHA , Eastern Ontario Minor Hockey League (EOMHL) as well as other associations/leagues to review how this will look like for us coming season. This is a “work in progress” as we are waiting for more information from both OMHA and OHF prior to making our final decision.
As we wait for answers, we are investigating various options to increase usable ice times, and work towards providing an extra ice time per week to our Representative teams U11 to U18 for the 25/26 season.
*****
For the first time in recent EMHA history, we will be hosting spring tryouts for team 1 representative teams from U11-U16.
Spring Tryouts
We have secured ice for the tryouts and development skates. Development skates begin April 19th, 2025, and tryouts being held sometime in May, with exact dates TBD. We plan to announce our Representative coach selections for the 2025-2026 prior to tryouts beginning.
Coach applications will open the first week of March in preparation for Spring representative tryouts. Anyone interested in coaching for the 2025/2026 season can apply.
The link to register for tryouts will be posted online.
What does “Open Boarders” mean?
Players can now choose where they try out for representative hockey without being restricted by their home address. More information can be found at : Player Movement FAQs | Ontario Hockey Federation
Tampering and/or Soliciting of players:
OHF is very clear that tampering and/or soliciting is strictly prohibited and will carry very harsh penalties (fines of up to $5,000), both on an individual level and at an association level. Tampering will be considered reaching out to players of other associations encouraging them to come to our organization. It will also include speaking directly to coaches to either ask what their plans are for next season or talking to coaches in other organizations, persuading them to come to our association. Speaking directly with other families, asking them to come to play hockey at EMHA will also be considered tampering. OHF promises to monitor closely for tampering and will punish with no opportunity for appeal.
Sincerely,
EMHA Executive
